This is the entry level group into our 50m pool, squad program. The Junior Silver Squad is focused on developing the four swimming strokes taught in the Mini-Squad program to a competition standard. Swimmers should have completed the highest level of Mini-Squad and be able to already swim all four strokes as well as be able to tumble turn and read the pace clock. We recommend swimmers attend a minimum of 2 sessions per week. At this stage of development, the swimmers are encouraged to join the Kawana Waters Swimming Club and compete at the local swim meets. The Junior Gold Squad builds on the technique and skills focused on in Junior Silver but now begins to develop fitness and speed. Swimmers are also introduced to the necessary skills to swim competitively at local meets. Swimmers need to be competent in all four strokes, be able to handle longer training sets and be comfortable in a squad training environment including reading the whiteboard and the pace clock. We recommend swimmers attend a minimum of 4 sessions per week during the summer season. Junior Gold swimmers are encouraged to join the Kawana Waters Swimming Club and compete at local swim meets.
